Sherilyn holds degrees in Music Education and Performance from Western Michigan University and a Master’s in Music Performance from the University of Northern Colorado. She has received Suzuki and Dalcroze training and has studied classical, jazz, folk, and contemporary styles across multiple instruments.

An active performer, Sherilyn has played cello, violin, piano, guitar, and voice with ensembles including the Albuquerque Philharmonic, Southwest Opera, Musical Theatre Southwest, Albuquerque Cello Trio, and various jazz, folk, klezmer, and chamber groups. She has been teaching since 2004, with experience in private instruction, school music programs, orchestras, choirs, and guitar ensembles.

Her teaching is individualized and focuses on developing strong technique, beautiful sound, musicianship, sight-reading, ear training, improvisation, and stylistic versatility. Drawing from her diverse musical background, Sherilyn helps students build confidence while developing the skills to become expressive, well-rounded musicians.
