After years of dedicated teaching, Tatyana Bayliyeva founded the Albuquerque Institute of Music in 2016 to share her passion for excellence in music education. Under her leadership, AIM has grown into one of New Mexico’s most respected music schools, known for its high standards and outstanding student achievements.

Her students have earned top placements in major national competitions across the United States (California, Georgia, Colorado, New York, Connecticut, Arizona, South Carolina, Indiana, Texas, Florida, and New Mexico) and internationally (Germany, Italy, Poland, Canada, the United Kingdom, and South Korea). They have performed on world-renowned stages including Carnegie Hall in New York City, Royal Albert Hall in London, and Ehrbar Saal in Vienna. In 2025, her students were invited to perform at the White House Christmas Tours in Washington, D.C., a distinguished recognition of their exceptional artistry and preparation.

Tatyana has taught master classes across Europe, Central Asia, and the United States and has served as a judge for the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She currently serves as the MTNA State Performance Competition Chair for New Mexico and as the Vice President of the Albuquerque Music Teachers Association.

Her professional achievements have been recognized through multiple prestigious awards:

  • Rosalia & Emil Molodietzky Best Teacher Award – Brooklyn Music Teachers Guild, New York, New York (2018)

  • Top 5 Business Owners in Albuquerque – Albuquerque The Magazine Best of the City Awards, Albuquerque, New Mexico (2023)

  • Teacher of the Year – Professional Music Teachers of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico (2024)

  • Best Instrumentalist winner – Albuquerque The Magazine Best of the City Awards, Albuquerque, New Mexico (2025)

Outside of her work at AIM, Tatyana enjoys practicing hot yoga, traveling, and spending time with her dogs, Leo and Mozart.

Our Director

Melanie

Melanie is our Director and has been part of the Albuquerque Institute of Music family since October 2020. She began as an administrative assistant, became Office Manager in 2021, and stepped into the role of Director in 2025. Having grown alongside the school, Melanie is passionate about helping AIM continue to be the best music school it can be while maintaining the excellence that defines our community.

She feels deeply grateful for all the incredible students and families she’s had the joy of meeting and supporting over the years, as well as for the brilliant teachers and dedicated admin team she gets to work with every day. Wearing many hats, from marketing and scheduling to interviewing and beyond, Melanie strives to create the best possible experience for every student who walks through AIM’s doors.

In 2018, Melanie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Media Arts with a minor in Arts Management from the University of New Mexico. She spent her final semester studying abroad in Madrid, Spain, and traveling throughout Europe. After graduating, she completed the Springboard UX/UI Design Career Track program in 2020. A self-described “jack of many trades,” Melanie brings creativity, organization, and heart to everything she does to help run the best music school ever!
