Jennifer B.
Clarinet & Piano
A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jennifer Bartelt is a classically trained clarinetist and has toured the world playing clarinet in numerous ensembles and teaching both piano and clarinet for over 30 years.
Jennifer attended Florida State University where she studied under Dr. Frank Kowalsky and graduated with a BM (Bachelor of Music) in woodwind performance. She made the decision to serve her country in a musical capacity by joining the U.S. Army Band program. Jennifer was placed into one of the top three Army music ensembles and was fortunate to be stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
Jennifer has made recordings with both Army and Air Force band ensembles including the USAREUR (U.S. Army Europe Band) and the Air Force Band of the West (San Antonio, TX).
Jennifer began accepting piano students in 2000 and has enjoyed having a full piano studio in compliment to her clarinet studio. She loves to get to know her students on a personal level, helping them grow and engage in music while encouraging them to always find joy in playing.
Jennifer served as a member of the music faculty at Saint Mary’s Hall (San Antonio, TX) where she taught both private piano and clarinet lessons as well as group piano lessons in the summer. Over the years, she has arranged for her students to participate in annual piano recitals as well as winning awards in the National Piano Guild auditions and at Solo and Ensemble Music Festivals in both Texas and New Mexico.
Jennifer currently performs in a woodwind trio and occasionally substitutes for the Santa Fe Symphony.
When she is not playing clarinet or piano, Jennifer enjoys hiking with friends, taking her dog on walks, travel and reading.
