Glenda
Piano/Voice Guest Teacher
Glenda Jones, a longtime Music educator and performer, has recently relocated to New Mexico from Taylor, Michigan.
Having begun playing piano by ear at 5 years old, she learned to read Music while playing violin, flute and clarinet in her elementary and Junior high years.
Her innovative high school required all students to choose a future major. Choosing Vocational Music, she was afforded the privilege of intricate study of several string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, as well as that of Music Theory, Ear Training, and performing in many Choral entities.
In college years and beyond, Glenda continued in this path, adding teaching vocal and instrumental Music in a variety of schools and traveling throughout the U.S., Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, the Bahamas and more, learning more about and performing both Classical and Gospel Music.
She has served as Minister of Music for Churches in six states, been on Music staffs for many State, National and International Youth and Women’s Organizations and recorded and composed songs for Musical plays, Choirs and ensembles.
Glenda cherishes the stellar instruction of several phenomenal Choral mentors, including Mrs. Ardafay Roberts, Mr. James Abney and her Mother, Mrs. Doris E. Jones, who played for and directed Choirs for sixty-one years.
One of her most profound loves is playing and teaching the Hammond Organ, which she does frequently for numerous events. She hopes to add to the already wonderful array of learning opportunities at the AIM!
